Hebe BrooksPassion For Detail and Perfection That Sets Her Work Apart

Award-winning Artist Who Enjoys Working With Oils and Acrylics

“My love for art has been present since my childhood when I spent endless hours drawing with ink or painting.” Born in the windy and cold land of Patagonia, Hebe began traveling at an early age. As a student in Pennsylvania, painting was her favorite class. In college, at La Universidad del Comahue, she enjoyed art history and world culture classes. Upon graduation, she traveled extensively and worked in different parts of the world visiting art museums and archaeological sites from Europe to the Far East and all through the Americas. Studying several languages allowed her to imbue in the different cultures where she lived or visited. A second college degree in Fine Arts-Studio Painting and Art History from the University of Houston with the banner carrier distinction for the School of Art and the Magna Cum Laude honor led to the consolidation of her devotion to art.

Whether representational or dealing with abstract elements, it is the passion for detail and perfection that sets her work apart. It is also this passion that has led to several awards and acceptances into esteemed juried exhibitions. Within the last two years, her paintings have received numerous awards. The most recent ones are The Dunnegan’s People Choice Award at the Best of America Exhibit 2013, an Honorable Mention at the 29th National Society of Artists Show 2013; the First Place Award in oils and acrylics in the 28th Texas & Neighbors Regional Art Exhibition April/May 2013, and the “Finalist Recognition” at the International Artist Magazine Still Life Competition published in the February/March 2013 Edition. In 2012, Hebe also received several awards. Among them the “Most Innovative Painting Award” at the 22nd Best of America Exhibit and the Jury’s Top Fifty Award at the prestigious Salon International, International Museum of Contemporary Masters of Fine Art, Greenhouse Gallery, San Antonio, Texas.

Hebe is a current member of several artists’ associations including the International Guild of Realism (IGOR), The Oil Painters of America Organization (OPA), a Signature Artist of The National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society (NOAPS), the American Women Artists Organization (AWA), and The Women’s Caucus for Art (WCA). Volunteering for art related activities to increase art awareness is also one of Hebe’s priorities and she is a Board Member for NOAPS and an active member of the Artist Committee at the Bayou City Art Festival.

Art writers have recognized Hebe’s work in several publications and her work has been included in catalogs, in the Important Artists of the World Juried publication, and in Studio Visit, Volume Sixteen book from The Open Studios Press, December 2011. An article about her art was published in the American Art Collector Magazine in April 2012, the International Artist Magazine March 2013, and in Southwest Art Magazine as one of the Finalists in their Artistic Excellence competition 2013 with over 2000 entries.

The dedication to art is palpable in Hebe’s paintings. Her work has received the admiration of art patrons and it is part of many private collections.
