We are still working on a schedule, but here are the basics of what you need to know regarding our Spring Juried Show.

ADVENTURE AHEAD | Travel Journal

All of our juried shows consist of 2 parts. In addition to the actual artwork, we require a written statement about the piece that describes how it fits the specific theme. This show is no different. We are looking for your favorite travel destination plus a written description of the location. The journal part of your entry can simply be the text you submit with your art that will be displayed alongside your artwork if accepted into the show. Subjects could consist of streets, cities, landscapes, statues, food, window shops, doorways/alleys, people, animals, seascapes and more.

Artwork representing a traditional travel journal is also completely acceptable. Hand-written text paired with imagery of the locale, keepsakes from the trip, maps, etc. all painted or drawn, of course. Even if text appears in your artwork, you are still required to submit a written statement specific to each entry.

ACCEPTED MEDIA
2-dimensional, Oil, acrylic, colored pencil, watercolor, pastel, charcoal and/or mixed media. No photography. No sculpture. If you are using a media not mentioned, please contact us for verification that we are accepting it.

SIZE
Entry must meet standard framing sizes. We provide temporary framing for the run of the show on standard-sized pieces. You are NOT required to purchase frames. Gallery-wrapped canvas will be acceptable at any size since framing is not required. Must have minimum depth of 1.25 inches.

ALL ENTRIES MUST BE AVAILABLE TO SELL
Artwork must have been produced in 2021-2022 calendar years.
Entries must NOT have been submitted in previous Dutch Art Gallery Juried Shows.

WORK IS JUDGED ON
-Theme Clarity – interpretation and the clarity of the work in relation to the theme
-Originality – Creativity and originality of the work
-Overall Composition – Quality of artistic composition and overall design
-Overall impression of the artwork

We thank each of you that took the time to vote in our poll and for casting a single vote as asked for your favorite theme. Unfortunately, we had a few individuals who circumvented the one vote restriction and attempted to skew the results. The numbers in the parentheses are the number of fraudulent votes deducted from each category to give the final total. Be assured that going forward any poll we post will have the voting log checked by hand for any irregularities. More details to come about the show!
