Faces and figures are a source of unending fascination to me. I appreciate the intricate details that comprise human form, but most of all I am passionate about how the parts come together as a whole to evoke the essence of the subject and tell a story about their lives. The figure in this piece is wearing a bold red which seems to contrast with her quiet, pensive gaze. She is reflecting on past struggles which she has overcome, but wraps herself in red to symbolize a fiery passion to move forward with strength.
