This Barred Owl is one my wife and I came across south of Dallas near the Trinity River bottom. He was kind enough to pose for us, allowing us to get many photos. Back at the studio, I go through the photos and find the shot or shots I like and create a composition. Having previously created an oil painting of this same subject, I really enjoyed working out this Charcoal drawing. I believe the late evening comes through as the Owl waits for nightfall. The time it is well designed to hunt its “supper”.
