My first huge jump into hyperrealism was with this piece. One of my goals as an artist is to create art that confuses the audience. Is it a drawing? Is it a photograph? Silent Watcher is one of my pieces that borders on that hyperrealism. My hope as an artist is to create art that is so realistic that it makes the viewer question how one can achieve such levels of realism. The dark background surrounding the owl forces its viewer to take in all the details of the subject. All the intricacies of the feathers, to the dark eyes that almost follow you as it watches in the silence.
