The Hill Country region of Texas is so serene and beautiful any time of year. Perhaps my favorite time is during the spring when the wildflowers are blooming. Inspiration for this painting came from an old western swing song called “Beautiful Texas”. The song was written and composed by Pappy O’ Daniel who also organized the Light Crust Doughboys in the 1930’s. The song has also been recorded by other artists including Leon Rausch, Willie Nelson and Hank Thompson. The scene in the painting is located on Highway 337 between Medina and Vanderpool, Texas. Enjoy this beautiful view of the Texas Hill Country.
