Reeves, Patrick Michael

Patrick Michael Reeves was born in Sewanee, Tennessee in 1974 and raised in South Texas. Having grown up both next to South Padre Island and the U.S./Mexico Border, he had an affinity for the ocean and wide landscapes. Throughout his life, Patrick has always been fascinated by the Impressionists and how they combine abstract shapes to form representational imagery. At an early age he found mentors inside and outside of school to further his aptitude. He studied painting and life drawing with Karl Umlauf at Baylor University in 1996 where he received a BFA in Graphic Design.

After completing his degree, Reeves moved to Dallas and worked as a designer for Fossil watches. Over the next years Patrick worked as a Graphic Designer, Illustrator and Fashion Designer for various companies, including Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, Express and was ultimately the Creative Director at Dakine in California.

It was there in California where he began to rediscover the love he had for fine art painting and began to further his education in this field. Reeves began to study with noted Western landscape painter Frank Serrano and Dreamworks Studio artist Mike Hernandez. Patrick found a unique group of “plein air” artists in Southern California that shared a lot of his impressionistic thoughts an ideas and began to paint the Southern and Northern California coastlines.

Reeves has just recently returned to his native Texas, with his family, leaving the corporate life behind and transitioning into painting full-time. He loves travel and painting and has gained a following on social media which has lead to several commissions globally.
