Huff, Laurie

As a contemporary abstract painter, Laurie Huff enjoys exploring diverse art media and processes that communicate her experiences with nature and travel as ongoing inspiration. Laurie paints with acrylic, mixed media, and oil and cold wax that often include an intuitive process of expressive linework and complex textured layers.

Laurie is currently active with several north Texas area artist groups and has studied with numerous master artists. She obtained a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Texas Permian Basin and a Masters of Education at Texas A&M Commerce. Laurie enjoyed teaching art for ten years, then spent another ten years serving art and theatre teachers as a Fine Arts Facilitator with Mesquite ISD. Recently retired from a 20 year career in public Fine Arts Education, she is now reconnecting with the outdoors as an inspiration for her abstract art practice.

Laurie’s work has been accepted into many juried shows and has received numerous awards, including Southwest Watercolor Society Best of Show 2021. Laurie’s greatest desire is to place artwork in spaces that bring joy to her collectors through a meaningful connection to their own experiences, memories, or sense of time and place.
