This was painted en plein air over the course of 5 days at the same locations and within the same time frame to reflect similar lighting conditions. It consists of the applications and organization of greens, which vary in value, color and chroma, depending on the distance and the effects of light.
The painting transports the viewer into the calmness of a warm summer golden hour, by leading the eye from the path of the foreground and into the distant highlights of the background. The use of low chroma reds creates a sense of peace and vibrancy at the same time, by interacting with the complementary colors of the foliage and the grasses of the ground. Compositionally, I used the law of thirds which places the center of interest, the large tree, as well as the brightest part of the painting which is are the highlights in the background.
