Still Life with Nautilus Chalice After Joris Van Son by Thao Le
$1,000.00
Original oils encased in layers of resin
16 x 20 inches unframed
Jois van Son (Dutch, 1623 – 1667) painted this still life in 1654. I wanted to breathe new life into this magnificent subject matter by using a different painting approach. This piece is unique in appearance as the various layers of oils encased in resin creates a three dimensional appearance. Translucent unmixed strokes of colors are layered on top of one another between resin that visually merges to form a deep richer note than if the two pigments where to be premixed and applied. I encourage you to come see this piece in person to truly understand what I am saying.
