This painting is part of my “Mysterious Peru” collection. I spent 3 months traveling and painting in Peru from August to November 2023.
The alforja is a piece of textile with two pockets on both ends that is draped over the shoulder to carry groceries or other items. It is used in the northern part of Peru by indigenous people. The straw hat is also typical of that region.
