As I was setting up a still life in the studio with sunflowers, I decided to zoom in on the flowers with a horizontal format. I set the timer, giving myself an hour to put down on canvas what I was seeing with the golden blooms. I eliminated most of the vase, concentrating on the way each flower flopped over the top of the vase. I hope that “Joyful” brings the viewer happiness….just as it did when I was painting this batch of sunflowers.
