This landscape was painted from reference material I gathered in southern Utah just as the sun was setting. I added horses for interest and compositional purposes.
The interplay of warm light and cool shadows, being complimentary colors, creates a calm yet striking presence. The wild horses lead the eye from the foreground to the top of the butte.
