Burch, Joanna

Joanna Burch, a native Texan, spent much of her youth along the vibrant Texas coast, where the
ever-changing landscape and colors left a lasting impression on her creative spirit. Her early education and professional journey began in graphic arts and illustration, providing a strong foundation for her artistic pursuits.

Before fully embracing life as a professional artist, Joanna created murals for homes in the Dallas area and spent many years immersed in textile design. Her passion for sharing knowledge led her to travel extensively, teaching seminars and workshops throughout the United States and Canada.

Today, Joanna is deeply committed to supporting her local art community, participating in competitions and exhibitions whenever possible. Realism is her chosen style and color is her greatest joy – she finds endless inspiration in capturing the world’s beauty with vivid detail.

Each day, Joanna feels truly blessed and grateful to devote herself to the work she loves most. For her, art is not just a profession; it is a lifelong passion and purpose.

“As an artist, I often reflect on why we are drawn to certain subjects and how our personal vision shapes the way we present them. Art is such an individual expression—our interests, perspectives, and the elements we wish to highlight vary greatly. Some artists may focus on subject matter, while others are inspired by color, lighting, or even the vantage point from which a subject is viewed.”

“For me, inspiration often begins with patterns. Whether they emerge through colors, repeating shapes, or the rhythm of lines, such as interwoven branches, patterns captivate me. When composing a piece, I strive to ensure that not only the primary elements but also the negative spaces (background shapes) hold visual interest. These elements must work together to create harmony in the composition.”
