Baker, Marjorie
Marjorie Baker’s love of watercolor painting began during the lock-down period of the pandemic in 2020. Seeking a new creative outlet, and seeing watercolor paintings on Instagram, inspired her to scour the house to find that long-forgotten set of children’s watercolor paints. With no formal art education or painting experience, she set about learning as much as she could about the complex subject of watercolor painting via YouTube tutorials and thousands of hours of experimenting and practicing. “I’m proof that one can learn anything through diligence and YouTube! Since childhood I have craved creative outlets, such as sewing, drawing, knitting, quilting, and embroidery; but watercolor painting is my favorite way to be creative.”
Since 2020, Marjorie has painted almost daily, specializing in pet portraits and house portraits, but she also loves capturing landscapes and flowers. “I grew up on a farm in Minnesota, and it has been such a pleasure to go back in my memory and recreate some of those nostalgic feelings and times through watercolor, to the best of my ability, since very few photos of the farm exist. This painting hobby has truly been a gift to me in so many ways! It is such a wonderful new means of self-expression, and I love the ability to create paintings that bring joy and meaning to me and to others.”
“For me, Painting is Love, Painting is Freedom. Life is beautiful with Art”
