PRESS RELEASE — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dutch Art Gallery Announces 50th Anniversary

Ben and Ann Massar ann_ben_massar_interiorDallas, Texas – August 26, 2015 – After 50 years of fine art, custom framing and customer service, the Dutch Art Gallery continues to produce quality personalization to patrons’ homes and work spaces. Second-generation owners, Hans and Pam Massar, believe it’s the wide selection of art and framing that has kept generations of families returning. Hans’ late parents, Ben and Ann Massar, opened the Gallery in the Northlake Shopping Center off Northwest Highway on November 19, 1965.

At 14 years old in Holland, Ben first sold fresh produce door to door. Eventually, with his wife Ann, he opened a brick-and-mortar grocery store in Delft, Holland-The Netherlands. When the Massar family immigrated to the United States, Ben decided to shift his successful business focus to culture. He went from a fresh grocery business of perishable goods to using his passion for art and starting the Dutch Art Gallery. The Gallery operated by Ann and Ben, also included their three sons, Hans, Ton and Ben in the early years. As the Gallery continues to grow, third generation family participate in the framing and operations.

“Works of art can be enjoyed for a lifetime.” – Ben Massar

In the heart of the Lake Highlands artistic community many local patrons enjoy the arts as a lifelong pursuit as well as learning more of the rich history behind the creative works. From the biography of the artist to their sources of inspiration, even their techniques and materials may have a story.

“We strive to continually present fresh experiences to our patrons, some of whom began as regular customers and we now consider friends.” said Rachel Davies, Designer/Gallery Assistant.

Dutch Art Gallery hosts monthly events including rotating visual art exhibitions and demonstrations as well as two annual juried art shows with artists from local and national organizations. It’s an opportunity to showcase incredible talent and display the exceptional abilities of artists. Owners, Hans and Pam Massar, are passionate about presenting fine art as well as quality custom framing. In the 7,000 square foot showroom, they still maintain the feeling of a family-owned business while presenting sophistication on par with the finest art galleries. On display is an array of original oils, mixed media, encaustic, watercolor, limited edition prints, sculptures, South American artisan works in leather, etc.

“I can think of no better way to celebrate fifty years of the arts and framing at the Dutch Art Gallery than to continue filling our 2015-2016 calendar with amazing events that showcase a wide variety of our local and international talent to keep our patrons amazed and entertained,” said Hans Massar.

Artists and local patrons are invited to celebrate the 50th year anniversary and the Fall juried art show on Saturday, November 7, 2015. This is an opportunity to once again showcase incredible talent while celebrating the success of the Dutch Art Gallery, its artists, and their wonderful patrons who have made it all possible. Before the awards ceremony, there will be a live presentation from gallery artists to share their experience as well as their passion and how the Dutch Gallery has given them the platform to do what they love.

Framing and knowledgeable art handling are the Gallery’s forte. From museum quality framing, shadow-boxed family treasures to the preservation and showcasing of sports and other memorabilia, they do it all. The Gallery takes great pride in the handling/design process. Creating framing that the artwork deserves and requires is their specialty. The Gallery has mastered the craft of framing while continuing to learn and educate their staff with new industry techniques and standards as they have evolved these last 50 years.

“If you’re investing in art, it’s a good idea to consult with a professional framer about how to maintain the value.” said Pam Massar.
