St. James Pumpkin Patch by Katherine Martinez

Oil on linen panel
6×12 inch unframed

Each year in October St. James Episcopal Church works together with Southwest-based farmers to have a pumpkin patch to raise funds for Saint James student ministries. I drive past frequently as it is right nearby the Dutch Art Gallery, and am always left in awe by the way the light sets on the church. Naturally, my friend and I picked this spot as one of our paint outs and they kindly welcomed us in to paint the the pumpkin patch. Our brushes were flying and It was a great joy getting to capture the fleeting light and the ground speckled with orange pumpkins. Of course I needed to paint in a carved pumpkin to celebrate the season.
