Pears by Deborah L. Stenberg

Original Oil on Panel
11×14 Unframed

“There are only ten minutes in the life of a pear when it is perfect to eat.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Most fruits ripen on the branch or vine but pears need to be picked before ripening.
Pears ripen from the inside out and, by the time they seem to be ripe, they are beyond it.

This painting makes you question….are they ripe or should we leave them to ripen a little longer?
