A commonplace bird such as a pigeon would rarely make the subject for a portrait. But I think anyone can make an exception for the blue crowned pigeon. Four times the size of a common pigeon, they are spectacular and have a feather crown that resembles a “pouffe” wig from 18th century France. Their affection brought me an abundance of joy as I worked.
