Black Beauty by Linda Miller

Original oil on panel
11×14 inches unframed

I thought it might be interesting to paint something black…with no black! Hence the title, which also refers to the beautiful colors one can achieve so simply. The horse is a beauty but actually named ‘Shay’, and belongs to me. While the theme is “Less is More”, I found I could mix many colors with a limited palette. This is such a fantastic way to harmonize colors in a painting and I fully intend to continue to experiment with ‘less’.

Colors Used: Titanium White, Cadmium Yellow Deep, Phthalo Blue, Alizarin
