JOST ART

Shelby Jost was born in Nebraska. She is one of ten children living now in Dallas with her husband Jerry. Growing up in a large family, Shelby shares with her brothers and sisters the ability to utilize her creative talents to create original works of art. Inspired by her mother as a master quilter, brothers’ talented woodworkers and sisters’ gifted with sewing. Shelby followed her passion for art with oil on canvas.

After retiring in 2000 as a hairdresser, she picked up the paintbrush full-time and pushed her personal style by learning from various teachers. Wesley Whittaker, his teaching of values and composition heavily influence Shelby’s current works. In addition, she continues to be inspired by other artists such as Andrew Wages, Francys Flannagan, Judy Gilferd, and Desmond O’ Hagan. Shelby finds that art is a constant process of learning, but very rewarding.

Shelby belongs to Associated Created Artists and Irving Art Association. She has won numerous awards including first place and best in show.
