Lovers In A Wood By Vern Rollin III

Original Oil on Canvas

16×20 Unframed

Lovers In A Wood after John Atkinson Grimshaw. True to the Pre-Raphaelite style, he created landscapes of accurate color and lighting, vivid detail and realism, often typifying seasons or a type of weather. Moonlit views of city, suburban streets and of the docks in London, Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow also figured largely in his art. His careful painting and his skill in lighting effects meant that he captured both the appearance and the mood of a scene in minute detail. His “paintings of dampened gas-lit streets and misty waterfronts conveyed an eerie warmth as well as alienation in the urban scene.” Respectfully adhering to the original painting, I changed the formatting slightly to comply with the size requirements and my interpretation is slightly wider than the original.

Artist Vern Rollin IIII have been a painter for over forty years. While working mostly with landscapes I have done abstract work as well. Early on in my career, I enjoyed a very successful career doing the top Juried Art Shows all over the country. For the last eight to ten years I have sold mostly through Galleries and I also work with decorators.

I have collectors throughout the United States and abroad as well as works on display in corporate collections. I have work in the Hill Country Marriott and in the Dallas Omni Hotel as well as the Mill Avenue Merchants Collection in Scottsdale. I live and work in the quiet countryside of Poetry, Texas just outside of Terrell. I have done numerous workshops over the years with noted artists like Richard Schmid, but learned my craft mostly by self study and hard work. I am currently looking for a Gallery in the Dallas area. I am proud father, grandfather and a Vietnam veteran.
