Jim is an impressionistic oil painter who lives in McKinney, TX and has an art studios there and in Fredericksburg, TX. As a youth, growing up in Waco, TX, he loved drawing and painting but it was not until much later in life, on a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, that painting became a most important part of his life. That is when he met artist, Dale Amburn, and several other well-known artists who painted in the Santa Fe and Taos, NM area. “I fell in love with painting and the idea of creating images of beauty with oil paints on canvas. “

Jim has been creating art for galleries and private collectors since 1987 and has developed his own style, using the impasto technique, with strong brush strokes and rich harmonious color to capture textures and light in his paintings. He enjoys painting landscapes of the Southwest and of the Texas Hill Country, as well as hunting scenes and birds. His paintings can be seen in galleries in Fredericksburg and McKinney and he has won numerous awards.

Jim is a member of Oil Painters of America, Artist of Texas, Richardson Art Society and Die Kunstler Von Fredericksburg.
