Steve Simcik was born and raised in Waco Texas. He pursued a career as a veterinarian in Dallas for 35 years and kept artistic endeavors secondary until drawing and painting consumed more of his time.
He is a watercolor artist whose work is mainly impressionistic and includes a variety of subject matter influenced by everyday life in Texas.
Although Steve is primarily a self taught artist with no formal training, he feels lucky to have studied with many well known artists such as Sue Alston, Nel Dorn Byrd, Michael Atkinson and Buck Taylor along with other talented local artists.
Steve has had his work accepted in numerous national juried exhibitions and has won several awards including a purchase award and a peoples’ choice award. His work is displayed in several private collections.
He is a member of the Southwest Watercolor Society, and the Society of Watercolor Artists.
He currently resides in Mcgregor Texas as a retired veterinarian and watercolor artist.
