McManus, Scott

I have been actively painting since the early 1990’s, having had various shows and gallery representation off and on since. I studied with many notable artists, including but not limited to Kevin McPherson, Tony Eubanks and Xiang Xing.

My most significant mentor was my grandmother, Alece McManus, who was an accomplished portrait artist and Art Instructor for many decades. Another significant influence were my studies dedicated to Master Soviet Impressionist paintings.

In terms of style, I am less interested in realism, although my paintings have precise amounts of detail and structure to evoke the true impression given during observation, being heightened via color and composition. I enjoy working in the studio or braving the challenges of plein-air painting in the great outdoors.

I have won various awards over the years and held exhibitions in both public and private institutions.
