Luzanquis, Bartolome

Bartolome Luzanquis was born in Cajamarca, Peru, in 1963. He emigrated to Piura, in northern Peru where he became an apprentice under the master artist Augusto de los Rios. After 3 years of very demanding work with de los Rios, Luzanquis moved to Lima to work in the atelier of Jorge Arribasplata, a superb still-life painter. He then rounded out his education by joining the studio of Ladislao Plasencki for two more years.

Luzanquis’ still-lifes are exquisite creations with intricate detail and complex compositions, reminiscent of the great Dutch masters.

Luzanquis has had several exhibitions since 1990 and exports most of his work to the United States and England.
