Ansel Adams one of the most important landscape photographers of the 20th century, could be the most widely known and beloved photographer in the history of the United States. Born in San Francisco, Adams’s most important work was devoted to the country’s remaining fragments of untouched wilderness, especially in national parks and other protected areas of the American West. He was also a vigorous and outspoken leader of the conservation movement. The popularity of his work has only increased since his death in 1984. Adams won three Guggenheim grants to photograph the national parks from 1944–58. Founding the f/64 group, he developed zone exposure to get maximum tonal range from black-and-white film. He served on the Sierra Club Board from 1934–71.

Marcello Dudovich (1878 – 1962) is regarded as one of the greatest Italian poster artists of all time, also participating in the budding movie industry. Dudovich revolutionized posters by streamlining the excessive Art Nouveau style into a more modern look. He created richly colored, dramatic, playful posters for opera publisher, Ricordi, and was also the official poster artist for Mele, a famous fashion department store. Ricordi later enjoyed success designing ads for Carpano, Fiat, Pirelli and Alpha Romeo.
